Ralph Garber started Garber Heating & Air Conditioning in March of 1972. In 1973 he began selling the Carrier® brand as Garber’s official home comfort product. Over 40 years later, we still stand behind the same value Ralph saw in Carrier brands and HVAC equipment: quality designs, greater efficiency, and leading-edge technology.
In 1979 business was growing; Garber moved operations to a small warehouse right off the iconic N. Main Street in Morton, IL. The move required Ralph to fill more positions, yet still remain the face of Garber. Ralph turned to his family; he hired them for the office affairs while he focused on the management. To this day, Garber is a family owned and operated business.
With advancing heating and cooling technology, and the demand for more eco-friendly solutions to energy, geothermal emerged on the market. This led Garber to open our Geothermal Solutions wing in 1984. Even today we remain one of the largest geothermal dealers in central Illinois.
In 1994, Brent Braker, Ralph’s son-in-law, joined the ranks—starting as an installer/service technician. Brent proved to be a useful addition to the company, and he worked with Ralph to develop more commercial HVAC work. In 1999, Garber moved to our current home at 310 Detroit Avenue in Morton, IL, and eventually expanded to an 80 mile service radius.
Garber Heating & Air Conditioning is proud to be a part of the Morton community for over 40 years, servicing and installing home comfort systems in the surrounding Tazewell, Peoria, and Bloomington areas.
